Sneaky Tent Theif
another one bites the dust

After the group finished up beneath the tresendor manor, they headed back to town and filled Sildar in on the Iarno “Glasstaff” situation. After poking around the town some more, they couldn’t find the location of Cragmaw Castle, but did find out that someone is poking around at the old owl well and orcs had moved into Wyvren Tor. The group found that a Red Wizard of Thay was camped out at the old owl well and he was researching the ruins. With some clever roleplaying the halfling snuck into his tent and stole alot of his valuables, before departing and heading to Wyvren Tor to take care of the orcs. The Tor was filled with a bunch of orcs and a ogre, and the lanky wizard Fuzz lost his life, but the orcs where dealt with.

Phandalin
wheres my armor, i need a bath, and you might lose a hand...

The group finally made it to Phandalin, and collected their 10gp reward for delivering the goods to Barthen’s Provisions. They then quickley headed to the local Inn for some rest and to possibly find the wereabouts of their patron Gundren. While they could not discover the location of Gundren they did discover that the new town is under constant bullying from a group of thugs known as the Redbrands. Also, Sildar explains that he seeks out a companion, a wizard known as Iarno. James and Dana decided to head over to the Sleeping Giant taphouse to partake in some gambling and see more about this group the Redbrands. They had a clever rouse of appearing to be drunk but when they arrived, 4 ruffians from the Redbrands demanded their coin and would not let them enter. A fight ensued and lucky for the fighter and wizard their companions Rob and MItchell where close behind to help out in the fight. The group then headed to Tresendor Manor to find Glasstaff (the Redbrands leader) and put a stop to the thugs hold on the town. Once there they stumbled upon a wizards lab that could only belong to this Glasstaff character. But Glasstaff made off as he knew the group was coming…

Gragmaw Hideout
New DND is brutal

The group moved up the path to investigate the wear-abouts of Grunden and Sildar when they came across a goblin den. Without much thinking the group fought a few goblins then entered the hideout and saw a chimmeny and scrambled up. They where taken by surprise by a nasty Bugbear named Klarg and his wolf. As a result the fighter Tanukus (played by Rob) was killed and Mitchell’s mage was taken captive. The party regrouped and headed into Cragmaw hidout again, and where set upon by more goblins as they didn’t have a very solid plan for infiltrating the hideout. The elf rogue (played by Travis) was killed but the party managed to free Mitchell and Sildar whom was also held captive, and kill all the goblins and their bugbear leader. Now the group hopes to head to Phandalin to find out more on the whereabouts of their dwarven patron Gundren.

on the Road to Phandalin

The group got together and introduced themselves and headed on the road with a wagon of goods to Phandalin. They spotted two dead horses that they recognized as Gundrens, their dwarven patron. Upon further investigation they where surprised by 4 goblins and they discovered that the bodies had been dragged down a trail to a cavren.

the adventure begins

You the characters begin in the city of Neverwinter when your dwarf patron and friend, Gundren Rockseeker, hires you to escort a wagon to Phandalin. Gundren has gone ahead with a warrior, Sildar Hallwinter, to attend buisness in the town while you follow with supplies. You will be paid 10 gp each by the owner of Barthen’s Provisions in Phandalin when you deliver the wagon safely to that trading post.

The Lost Mines of Phandalin
Backstory

More than 500 years ago, clans of dwarves and gnomes made an agreement known as the Phandelver’s Pact, by which they would share a rich mine in a cavern known as Wave Echo Cave. In addition to its mineral wealth the mine contained great magical power. Human spellcasters allied with the dwarves and gnomes to channel the magic into the Forge of Spells, where magic items could be crafted. The nearby town of Phandalin prospered at this time. But disaster struck when orcs raided from the North.
A powerful force of orcs reinforced by evil mercenary wizards attacked Wave Echo Cave, and the ensuing battle destroyed the cavern.
For centuries , rumors of buried riches have attracted treasure seekers to the area around Phandalin, but no one has ever succeeded in locating the lost mine. In recent years people have resettled the area. Phandalin is now a rough and tumble frontier town.
The Rockseeker brothers- a trio of dwarves- have discovered the entrance to Wave Echo Cave, and they intend to reopen the mines

Starter Set Ordered
Do your part

Just ordered the started set and it should be on my door when I arrive home, thanks to DAR. The starter set sets up the campaign setting for the Forgotten Realms Tyranny of Dragons which we will play through (levels 1-20 JAMES!). Do your part the basic rules will be available for download on July 15th or earlier so stay tuned to the Wizards of the Coast/Dungeons and Dragons website to find out when you can download it for free. I’ll expect everyone to have downloaded or at least looked at it when we get back so we can start playing right away. Also, I’ll print a copy of the basic rules for the table!

DND starter set
PHB

When the basic rules release on July 15th they’re not gonna have alot of stuff for DM’s so I think I’ll wait until the PHB comes out to continue my home brew campaign, and pick up the starter set which runs an campaign from levels 1- 5 with the basic rules while we wait for the juicy shit to come out. Also, there are 2 boxed sets coming in August and September that are set in the Forgotten Realms and the starter set is aimed as a start for them so we’ll do those also. 2 campaigns one in my home brew world, and starting when the starter set and basic rules are released in July in the Forgotten Realms.

For the nights Kurt or Charlie or anyone else plays we’ll use this campaign, and characters need to be brought up to date. Not that hard the only thing to do is

On to Isle of Dread
epic battle

The group just couldn’t let Gillgabeebee get away and James, Charlie, Rob and Travis took the fight to the enemy. However, in the end James was turned to stone and his constant companion Charlie had to gather him up and retreat. The Paladin was badly hurt and outnumbered and retreat seemed good to him as well but not without a little guilt because the Rogue was boarding the small ship so the chase for Shelligans ship could continue!
